Data Privacy –
Children's On-Line Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
COPPA, which became effective in April 2000, requires companies to implement safeguards when they collect marketing data online from children under 13. The law applies to companies who operate web sites directed at children as well as companies with general-audience Web sites that knowingly collect personal information from children.
SAINT® scans allow for proactive network monitoring programs, which are an important part of COPPA compliance. Using SAINT, companies can:
- Bolster network security. SAINT's vulnerability assessment will allow administrators to take precautions and bolster network security before children's information falls into the wrong hands.
- Find fixes fast. If vulnerabilities are detected, SAINT® will lead network administrators to the fastest fixes for them.
- Document COPPA network security compliance. SAINT® reports provide customers with excellent records for documenting COPPA compliance.
