SAINT Corporation was incorporated in Maryland in 1998 as a spin-off of Richard S. Carson & Associates, Inc. (Carson Associates). Carson Associates' 20 years experience and expertise in Internet Security is a key strength and distinguishing factor for SAINT's success with its suite of network security assessment tools.
Mr. Richard S. Carson, Chief Executive Officer
As CEO, Mr. Carson focuses on long-term issues involving infrastructure and financial considerations. Mr. Carson has over 30 years of corporate experience and has been a visionary in identifying new electronic markets and strategic partners. Mr. Carson serves as a board member of AFEI which is an international association promoting the use of electronic commerce. Mr. Carson is a local community leader having been Chairman of the Montgomery County (MD) Health Commission, a trustee on the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission Pension Plan, President of the Rotary Club (Bethesda-Chevy Chase, MD), Rotary District Governor Select 2007/8, and has been a major fund raiser for several local non-profit organizations. Mr. Carson obtained his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Cornell University.
Ms. Donna Ruginski, President and Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Ruginski is responsible for the strategic planning process and the entire operational implementation of SAINT Corporation. Major parts of the strategic planning process include the successful integration of Strategic Partners, the identification, development, and improvement of security products, and the use of both conventional and electronic commerce marketing techniques. Ms. Ruginski has over 20 years of corporate experience and has been successfully involved in all areas including management, sales, marketing, engineering, and the implementation of large security and systems solutions. Ms. Ruginski earned a MS in Computer Science at The Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering. She graduated Cum Laude from Towson University, earning a BS degree with a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science.
Mr. Sam Kline, Chief Engineer
As Chief Engineer and Architect for the SAINT® suite of tools, Mr. Kline's responsibilities include the design, testing, and implementation of all SAINT® products, the upgrades to all SAINT® products, the interface of SAINT® to other security products, and the management and staffing of our security team. His information security experience includes the supervision of network vulnerability assessments and penetration testing at the Pentagon. Mr. Kline has a BS in Electrical and Civil Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and a MS in Computer Science and Applications from Virginia Tech.
Mr. Billy Austin, Chief Security Officer
Mr. Austin has held several executive positions for Intrusion Detection and Vulnerability security vendors. Prior to entering the commercial sector, he performed security assessments and intelligence for various United States and Israeli institutions and agencies. Mr. Austin was a contributing author for the SANS Top 10 exploits and also published the paper: "Session Hijacking and Active Sniffing". He holds engineering and training certifications in firewalls, VPNs, risk assessment, intrusion detection systems, public key infrastructure and other security tools.
He is a recognized speaker in the security industry and has presented topics including "Cybercrime from the Inside", "Vulnerability and Threats" and "TCP/IP Black Hat Attacks" to audiences at Internet World, COSTO, Intrusion.com, Check Point Software, RSA Security, VeriSign, MIS Institute, SANS Institute, ASIS, ITEC, Westcon, ISSA, Information Security Magazine, Hacker LIVE 2000, ISSA and others.
Ms. Jane Laroussi, Information Security Specialist
Ms. Laroussi has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Delaware and a Master of Information Systems from Virginia Tech. Ms. Laroussi has been working in the computer industry for over 15 years and in the computer security field for the past five years. She specializes in conducting vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, and developing security plans. Ms. Laroussi has given presentations on SAINT® at several major conferences.
Mr. Virgil Isola,
Information Security Specialist
Mr. Isola has a BA in economics from Saint Vincent College and a MS in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Isola has over ten years experience in the computer security industry where he specializes in conducting risk assessments and developing security plans and security policy. He has supported security efforts for various Department of Justice organizations, the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Army, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. In 1996, Mr. Isola presented a paper on "Lessons Learned from Developing an On-line Data Dictionary” at the 1996 AFCEA Conference in San Diego, CA.
Ms. Margaret Lord,
Software Engineer
As a member of the SAINT® development team, Ms. Lord is responsible for software development and testing. She also participated in the original development of SAINT® in 1998. Ms. Lord developed a vulnerabilities tracking database for a US Government agency that takes SAINT® results as input. In addition, she has participated in risk assessments and independent assessments of government agency security programs as required by the Government Information Security Reform Act (GISRA). With 19 years experience in the computer field, Ms. Lord holds a BS in Psychology from Georgetown University and has studied computer science at the University of Maryland.
